About Me
Hi, I’m Laura, and I created Young Adult Tax Guide to make taxes a little less confusing for people who are just getting started.
I currently work for the South Carolina Department of Revenue and have experience assisting taxpayers and examining tax returns for individual income tax and withholding tax. I also have a background in customer service and communications, and I’m currently continuing my education in Communications.
Why I Created This Website
Taxes can feel overwhelming when you’re filing for the first time. Terms like W-2, 1099, withholding, estimated payments, deductions, and tax credits can sound complicated when no one has ever explained what they actually mean.
I created this website with young adults in mind. My goal is to explain basic tax topics in simple, everyday language and connect you with reliable resources from the IRS and state tax agencies.
Whether you just started your first job, received your first 1099, or are preparing to file your own tax return for the first time, I hope this website gives you a good place to start.
